Sheldon Shealer is the Chair and Lecturer of Communication. He is completing his Ph.D. in American Studies at Penn State with an emphasis on sports media history. Shealer is an award-winning sports journalist who has worked for ESPN and The Washington Post among other national sports media outlets. He serves as the academic advisor to the university’s ESPN broadcast program. Shealer teaches courses on broadcast and print media, journalism, sport communication, public relations, and public speaking. His research interest is in the evolution of football in the United States. He lives in Myersville, Md., with his wife, Kelly, and their three children.
