Kurt Blaugher, Ph.D., taught for two years at Westmar College in Iowa before coming to Mount St. Mary's in 1987. As Director of Theatre here, Kurt has produced over fifty Mainstage Productions, ranging from Antigone to The Laramie Project, covering the wide range of international theatre. His productions have been cited by the American College Theatre Festival, including a "Certificate of Merit" for his production of Much Ado About Nothing. His professional theatre work includes performances with the Gettysburg College Theatre Festival and the Millbrook Playhouse in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, as well as various television, radio, and print commercial campaigns in Chicago and Toledo, Ohio. He has also dabbled in playwriting, and his internet-based play, Blogosphere Theatre II: The Gleequel, which premiered at the Mount in 2010, was performed in 2011 at American University.

At Mount St. Mary's, Blaugher has served on nearly every major committee, as Chair of the Faculty, as the faculty advisor for Alpha Psi Omega (the national dramatic honorary fraternity) and three terms as Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department. Outside of the Mount, Blaugher has held leadership positions in many professional associations, including chairing the Theatre as a Liberal Art focus group of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, and serving as a mentor for their Leadership Institute.
