Andrew Rosenfeld, DMA, has been at the Mount since 1997. He teaches courses in music history and theory, Modernity in Music in the Core program, and directs the MSMU Chorale. In 2020 he completed a twelve-year run as chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Off campus, Rosenfeld is extremely active in music in the Greater Frederick region and beyond. He is Associate Conductor of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra and Director of the FSO Camerata chamber orchestra. Since 2013 he has been music director of Maryland’s Hub Opera Ensemble and in 2016 was invited to direct for the International Opera Project in Berlin, Germany. He is founder and music director of the Button-Down Opera Project in Frederick, which premiered in 2021 with Puccini's La Boheme. Rosenfeld also serves on the board of the Frederick Arts Council, and is active as a teacher and lay cantor at Frederick’s Beth Sholom Congregation.
